David Alcaide and Aleksandros Kazakis are going to face one another in the Kremlin Cup 10-Ball final
The spectators' hopes for Ekonomopoulos - Van Boening quarterfinal proved wrong. Both lost in the round of Last 16 by the same scoreline 5-8, and both got beaten by the Polish players Konrad Juszczyszyn and Wojciech Szewczyk. Next round Juszczyszyn was eliminated by Nick van den Berg. Despite the face that the knock out stage featured six players from Poland (more than any other country) none of them managed to get through to the semis. Last men standing were Radoslaw Babica and Wojciech Sroczynski eliminated in the quarters.
Surprisingly, of all the Americans it was the one not playing the Mosconi Cup this December with the best performance - Corey Deuel. All the rest were served defeats in the first round of knock out stage. Alex Kazakis was to blame for two of the American players.
Konstantin Stepanov managed to go past Mika Immonen, but later fall to Babica. The Russian star could drag the match to hill-hill but missed a routine 10-ball. And Ruslan Chinakhov was in the driving seat against Petri Makkonen leading 5-0 and 7-1 shortly after. But the Finn produced one of the most wonderful comebacks, especially given the alternate breaks format. Makkonen won the match in the decider!
In the semi-finals alongside Nick van den Berg and David Alcaide who both are top five in Eurotour rankings the audience saw Eklent Caci (Albania), who spent last year in the US, and Alex Kazakis. The Greek is the defending champion here and is willing to repeat last year's success. He seemingly cruised to the final match with ease, defeating Denis Grabe and Kaci.
